Book 2 (Book 1: Need)

Novel Summation:

Zara and her friends thought they’d solved the pixie problem. And they did- sort of. The pixies are all locked away, deep in the woods. But the kings needs grow stronger each day that he is in captivity, while his control over his people weakens. And it’s enough to daw a new king into town. Astley claims he is different. He claims there are pixies who can live peacefully with humans, that it doesn’t have to be all violence and nastiness all the time. Zara wants to believe him… until Astley also claims that she is fated to be his queen. There is no way Zara would ever turn pixie. And she’s got good friends who will make sure of that. Besides, she and Nick are so in love they’re practicall inseperable. But where the very thing Zara wants to protect most is exactly what’s at risk, she is forced to make choices she never imagined.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book. It was just as good as the first book and continued the story with new, interesting details. I love the new concepts explored in the series. Books with vampires, werewolves, faeries are so common but in this book we are introduced to pixies and a little bit of the old stuff. In the book we have the pixies, weres which can be virtually any animal. Weres are basically humans that shape shift into animals and we have a wide range of characters that exhibit these traits. Also, we are briefly introduced to new beings which are *spoiler alert* elves. The preconceived concepts of pixies are thrown away. In the book we learn that what were once thought to be evil creatures don’t have to be. In the world there exist both good and evil and we witness this within the pixie realm. We are introduced to a new character called Astley who is refreshing and kind of the boy who you can always lean on. Zara continues to be an enticing  character and doesn’t let down. A bit of a let down might be Nick who isn’t involved much himself. However, he is the driving force and everyday thoughts of Zara all the time. New problems and complications continue to arise for Zara and she tackles them one by one, with many left unresolved at the end of the book. I would recommend this book to all those who enjoy fantasy.
