My Thoughts:

Amazing. Rick Riordan weaves yet another mythological journey. This time it involves the Egyptian gods and goddess. The main characters in the story are Carter Kane and Sadie Kane. Carter is the expert on Egyptian mythology and takes after his father in appearance. With dark skin, brown eyes, and brown hair. Sadie on the other hand is extremely straight forward. When she wants answers she goes to get them. Sadie takes after their mother with pale skin, caramel coloured hair (with added red streaks), and blue eyes. Unlike in the Percy Jackson series the gods in this series don’t exist without a host. They can but they aren’t as strong that way. The book is full of Egyptian mythology and will make you want to learn more about Ancient Egypt. There is a reference to the Percy Jackson series which can be found on page 52 in the book and it really made me smile to see this. The book is written in a style where Sadie and Carter have used a recording device to record it. The chapters alternate between Sadie and Carter. This style was really interesting. I didn’t particularly like the recording device idea because it didn’t really add anything but it wasn’t horrible. The narrator changes also was interesting and added a lot of depth to the story. This book is amazing and would recommend this to all.

Future Books:

The next book in the series is Throne of Fire set to come out Spring 2011.
