Love ties them together. Death can’t tear them apart. Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan’s band playing a critical gig and Aura”s plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend’s life. She never thought it would be his last. Logan’s sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He’s gone. Well, sort of. Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan’s violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost. It doesn’t help that Aura’s new friend Zachary is so understanding–and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit. As Aura”s relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura’s heart…and clues to the secret of the Shift.
I thought this book was really interesting. It presented a very unique storyline. It seemed to jump right into the whole Shift thing. Which kind of made me have to read slower and really think about what was going on. No explanation about the Shift is given, hopefully we find out in future books. All we know is what the Shift is and not how it came to be which is what the main character Aura (kind of an ironic name) is trying to figure out. I found her relationship with Logan to be really sad. We get introduced to this couple and then its over with Logan’s death. We don’t really get to see how much they love each other and they never get to express it. Logan kind of seemed really stupid throughout the book. He made stupid decisions and he just wasn’t a very good character for me. There were times when he seemed ok but those times were few. Zachary on the other hand was pretty endearing and interesting. I much prefer a Aura and Zachary relationship but thats just me. What really got me in this book was the storyline. It was really interesting and mysterious. The characters seemed kind of second place to it. I’m a little bias to liking this book because it had a lot of Irish references and some of my best friends are from Ireland so I found the references to remind me of them which made me very happy. I look forward to the future books and would recommend this book to everyone.
The next book in the series is called Shift
