Meghan Chase has a secret destiny-one she could never have imagined… Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth-that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she’ll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.
This was a really good book. I read it awhile ago but I will do my best to recapture how I felt about the book. The plot was interesting and the characters were enticing. In this book we are brought into the world of fae, in particular the fae that can be found in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night Dream. Meghan played the role of a strong female lead which I felt was very refreshing. Meghan discovers a lot about herself. Such as who she really is, her connection to the fae world, and how far she is willing to go to save the ones she cares about. Two possible romances appear for Meghan. She immediately is drawn to the winter prince, Ash but whether he feels the same for her, well that answer develops throughout the book. This was a very well written book. That I happened to pick up on a whim and I am very glad that I did. I would recommend this book to everyone.
The next book in the series is The Iron Daughter, then The Iron Queen, and then followed by The Iron Knight.
