Book 1

Novel Summation:

When Abbey’s best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead…and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen”s funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey’s life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he’s the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again…but also special. Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen’s betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her-one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

My Thoughts:

I thought this was a very well written book. It was kind of slow at first, nothing was really happening. The whole storyline revolving around Kristen’s death didn’t really seem that important until half way through the book where a new development took place. Not much really happened in the book. It mainly consisted of Abbey dealing with the grief of losing her best friend Kristen. She remains a loner throughout the book and she eventually opens up to and shares her soul with the mysterious Caspian who she happens to meet one day. Caspian himself seems to be a really nice guy. That’s all I can really say about him because we don’t get much character development. Unlike Abbey who goes through a lot of emotional change throughout the book. It’s quite the emotional roller coaster for her. She is an enjoyable character to follow and is pretty unique. Though there are times when she seems a bit too moody and unreasonable.  Her mom and dad kind of annoyed me since they were really pushy. The story takes place in Sleepy Hollow which should play more of a bigger role in the future books. In this book in mainly plays the role of town pride. Towards the very end of the book we can a real plot twist and when I said towards the end of the book I pretty much mean the end of the book. This leaves a lot of excitement for the next book in the series. The book is really well written that the whole trilogy could just be a really long book. This book gives us insight into the characters, the setting, and some background, and it finishes with a climax. This paves way for the next book in the series which should go deeper into this new mystery. This book was interesting and the way it ended makes me look forward to the next book in the trilogy. I would recommend this book to those readers that are patient and enjoy a good long read.

Future Books:

The next book in the series is The Haunted and will conclude in The Hidden.
