So I recently saw the Host film based on the book by Stephanie Meyer. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I have to say it was a pretty good adaptation of a book. Many of the lines in the movie were direct quotes from the book and the plot was fairly consistent.

Some things I didn’t like:

-The appearance of the main Seeker was so vastly different from the book.
-Despite how similar the cave was in the movie to the book it wasn’t like I pictured it. The hole Wanda is kept in in the movie was definitely not like the book described.
-I wished film Jared showed that he treated Wanda as an individual and had his own feelings for her too.
-I hated the outfit choices in this movie, at least in the real world and not the cave world.
-Wanda’s not wanting to turn Jamie in and her hatred towards violence and weapons was expressed well at all.
-The whole fight scene with Kyle and Wanda could have been much more dramatic.

I would have liked there to be more depth to Wanda as a character such as the stories of the other planets and her own feelings expressed better. If Wanda and Melanie had different voices in the movie this might have been achieved better.  Ian was pretty spot on and I would have loved to see more of him.

The best portrayal was Jeb and Wanda, the actors got it spot on there. The introduction of more cave people, the story of the souls journey, and the different calls would have been nice. The actors for both Ian and Jared were excellent and both men are gorgeous.
